Chimera: The Inspiration Behind It

Image
Ahhhhh, Chimera. A sweet and bitter title which fits best for a visual dramatic short. While there is no certain plot or dialogue in the video, I suggest viewers to make their own theories and inferences into what happened. The more ideas, the better. The story is simple: Taking place in a Team Fortress 2 universe, our protagonist who is a middle-aged man (known as the Spy) is a hired mercenary which he finds himself stuck between dimensions in fantasy and reality. So what got me into making it? Well, for starters I didn't originally plan to work on this as my genius project. I wanted to improve on speaking Cantonese, but I realized that I could do that while I'm doing something else so I picked on working on this, since I never made a animated short before. I was also inspired from watching many youtube videos highlighting the process to being finalized that professional animators(working in industry) had made. This is one of them. A Brief History of 3D Animation

Image
An example of 3d animation is the evaluating and giving characters personality and "breathing them in with life". A General Overview Before 3D animation was created, there was 2D Animation. There was the Golden age of animation which started around the late 1920s to late 1960s. These created notable characters such as Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, and Tom & Jerry. I decided to choose this as my genius project because I want to practice on 3d animating and I want to be a 3d artist in the future. "Chimera" will be a silent 2 minute short animated in Valve's engine, the Source Filmmaker. Source Filmmaker logo So how did I pick Chimera as the title for my animated short? Because although it is a creature in greek mythology, it also means this: Animating will be done at home on my computer. Some of the possible obstacles that I may face while working on this project is picking a music that establishes the overall tone for the film. The film is non-profit, so finding a non-copyrighted music would be hard. Since I'm not profiting off of the film, I could use copyrighted music though. Another thing is giving up since animating takes a lot of time and it requires patience, which I have, but it ...
